I do contract mowing here in ky. I normally charge by the acre. Rough ground runs around $10 to $12 per acre. Good ground such as horse farms around $8 per acre. If the person doesn't know the acrage I charge according to what I can mow in an hour. On rough ground I usually mow around 4-5 acres per hour and I usually will charge $40 per hour. On smoother ground I can mow 8-10 acres per hour and charge about $80 per hour. This way I don't lose money for being able to move on when mowing. I'm busy and like to be in and out in as short of time as I can. I have a 15' M&W batwing and a 2950 JD.
