Broken wrench is right. Oliver had both at the same time. "Mechanical" Four Wheel Drive and "Power assist" Four Wheel Drive. The machanical four wheel drive put power to the front wheels useing a drive shaft. Power assist four wheel drive used hydraulic motors on each front wheel. In other words , the power assist four wheel drive was not really a true four wheel drive. The front wheels just kind of helped (assisted) the rear wheels. I read that Oliver had problems with the power assist four wheel drive. With out looking it up , I belive the hydralic motors got hot and failed.
