There are synthetic blends, which are regular crude oils with synthetic blends added to it. As far as I know, Amsoil is synthetic throughout. Mobil 1 may be also. But alot of the Quaker State and Pennzoil are blends. Kinda confusing to me. All I know is that I was using regular oil in my 94 F-350 diesel and was getting 13-15 mpg. Changed to Amsoil, and at the first full fillup after that I got almost 19 mpg. But of course alot of variables are involved. I didnt have the time to check it correctly, as I pull heavy trailers occasionly. But as a whole, my mileage is up.
