Make sure that the lead and the contact spring inside the distributor are not touching the distributor housing and grounding, also make sure the contact point surfaces are not dirty and preventing them from making a good ground when they close, you can check both these conditions with an ohmmeter. Both of these conditions can be easily overlooked on a Delco unit and make for frustration if encountered!
