You've gotten lots of good advice from Scotty, Jerry T-Bone, Lyle, etal. I've had lots of trailers in my life and have concluded that when you buy a trailer they come with light trouble at no extra cost. Good luck, but keep at it and you will solve the problem, what ever it is. Just keep in mind that you need good electrical contact and good ground and you will have lights.
