As far as pulling a branch off of a tree... DON'T DO THAT!!! Get some help and use a saw safely. If you have to tie it off to avoid it landing on something do so... but don't just pull it.
Maybe hire a tree trimmer who does that for a living. Make sure he has insurance.
We mean no harm with our silliness.
