I've been around Cub Cadets for about 40 years. The second one Dad bought new, a Model 70 in 1965 He still has and hasn't touched the transmission but He's rebuilt/replaced the engine 4-5 times. That's how durable they are. The older Cub Cadets, '85 or older vintage are really tough to beat for the $$$$. I find the larger tires and longer frame of the bigger tractors or Super Garden Tractors improve the ride tremendously. I've had a model 72 gear drive since 1980 and a model 129 Hydro since 1990 and have had a model 982 for about 1-1/2 yrs. Either of the 2 older tractors (72 or 129) will do anything You need done on 3/4 acre. To find out more about them check out ihcubcadet.com . Parts are readily avail. both new/used and service work is easily done because these machines are so simple.
