My family has allways had Cub Cadets and none of us have any complaints. I don't know what the brand new ones are like but the older ones are built very strong and durable. Mine is an 18 HP with a 50" mower deck and I have had it now for about 12 years mowing anywhere from 5 to 8 hours a week with it depending on the amount of rain and it is still like the day i bought it and i bought it used. I would stay away from the belt drive and go with the shaft drive. Also I change the oil every 20 to 25 hours not the 30 that the book recomends and the hydro. oil every 100 hours. Good luck on your decision. One more thing if you have back problems you might also want to consider getting the hydrolic mower lift. Glenn
