Please read pages 5,6,&7 of C.H.Wendel's- Nebraska Tractor Tests since 1920 and you will learn of what I speak. Brake hp. is hp. tested by an aparatus called a Prony Brake and can be pto driven,belt driven, or direct engine driven . There is one at the show at Rollag Minn. You can test engine hp. using elec.generation etc. but only one method gives you Brake Hp. and that is one where the twist on the shaft is transferred to a downward force on to a counter balance weigh scale, which measures the force being applied by a lever 5.25ft. long, X the speed of the shaft divided by 5252=brake hp.
