Steven is right, however, it also refers to a single-acting system on a pull-type machine where lift is provided by a one-way cylinder, and dropping of the machine is by gravity= single spool hydraulics. Double spool hydraulics allows for a two-way cylinder to be attached, with two hoses, allowing for power up and power down of the machine. Power down on a disc would allow for the cylinder to lower the disc to the point where the disc is in the ground, and holding the valve further would raise the wheels off the ground, raising the wheels and adding their weight, allowing for further penetration of the disc into the ground. ie: single spool remote valve has one hose, double spool remote has two hoses.
