I live in KY. My dad has been pulling tractors since the mid seventies and has never stopped at a set of scales or been pulled over. I've driven by the scales on I-64 thousands of times with a load. Some I new I was over my 38,000 lb tag limit but have never had any problems. I do however make sure all my lights work just in case. I have also hauled up into ohio and passed open scales with no problems. I did have a friend get pulled over in paris, Ky and get put on a set of portable scales. He was pulled over because the DOT saw him pass the same spot twice in the same day hauling woodchips in a gooseneck grain trailor. He didn,t get a ticket(He lacked 15000 lbs being over his tag limit. The farm tag limit in ky is 38,000 lb and we don't require trailor license plates in KY. brian in ky
