I also drove a rig some years ago for 25 years, and hated those scales most of the time. Now when I pull my trailer with a 1 ton dump truck, I stop at all open scales. I was just in Virginia with it and was suprised to see that their scales were automatic. You just slow down and pull over the scale and go on. If they want you to stop a red light will come on. These were on Int. 81. I'm really not sure about stopping so I do it anyway.
