I use the center pin on the cord or the #6 wire as my aux wire. I have a switch in the truck that I can turn the wire on and off with and use it for different things. Like on the flatbed I have loading lights that are wired through that, on the stock trailer the reverse and interior lights use that pin. So you can do with it what you like, but my advice is to put a toggle switch on it. Here is the picture of how it works.
