in actual application you only need 2 binders. one end of the tractor either front or rear can be with fixed length while the binders are used on the opposite end of tractor. this way the binder is pulling against a fixed length chain and not another binder. you may find that this makes the binding as secure while being easier. I also like the place a chain across the tractors center at the transmission then to each side of the trailer pulling the tractor down tight on its tires.I have a friend that uses an electric winch in front and two of the big hooks like rollback wreckers use on the rear.Some states now require that the handles be secured on the pop over type binders.
