20 x 24 should be big enough if you intend on working on one unit at a time. You need 4ft around a unit to work on it -16ft., so that leaves 3ft for work bench and tools on one side and maybe one end, so you will be left with an area of 16 x 20 for unit- 16 x 23 if leave end bare. My shop is 30 x 40 with a 12 x 12 overhead door in the end wall ,walk in - in the side wall near other end ,13.5 ft.ceiling and 6in. of concrete. Works okay for me.
