clutch drive disc on model 50 jd

I have a 1953 model 50 that just spun off all the teeth on the clutch drive disc (the one that splines onto the crank not the floating one). Before I replace it I was wondering if there was anything I needed to look for in the belt pulley assembly thet might have caused this or is it most likely just old age. Also were might I find a used one if possible or should I just go with a new one from John Deere. This is a work tractor so it sees a good bit of use. Anyone that could help I would appeciate it.THANKS
