There is a lot of sense in that. Seems over the years, I've erred on the cautious side a few times when I could have spent a little more and been happier in the long run. Seems like the older folks that went thru the depression have always been cautious about spending their money. My mother-in-law who's in her mid-eighties still puts off buying anything til the very last minute and often goes without. I tell her that if she sees something she wants and it will make her life easier or more pleasant, buy it. Why leave everything to the kids? On the other hand, too many young people have to have everything NOW and find themselves so far over their heads they'll never get out.
