Yes, thats always a good rule to remember. On slight hills with no load behind you and decent brakes you MIGHT be able to stop all right. I would never assume that though, its better to be safe than sorry. BUT be very very very careful at all times! i was working this weekend with my farmall M up on top of a very steep ridge. on the way down i just let the engine brake for me. it was really chugging let me tell you. i think if i had hit the clutch it would have been a very scary situation most likley resulting in at least me loosing the tractor and more likely would have resulted in my untimely demise or some degree of very serious injury. not stepping on the clutch going down a hill was like the first thing my dad ever told me about how to drive a tractor! jeff
