Rollamatic was a front end option John Deere brought out in the late 40's on their post-war tractors, it saved a lot of sprained wrists and wrenched arms caused from the jerk of hitting rough ground. My father was a partner in the local JD dealership back then, and we saw very few Waterloo row crop units sold without it don't think it was available on the Dubuque tractors at that time.It consisted of two spindles with gears on the pedestal end (with timing marks on them),it worked somewhat like the sway bar under a vehicle does,when one wheel went into a furrow, or onto a ridge,your other wheel went ddown or up as needed and this eleminated the violent snatching when hitting a hole or bump. It also made it much easier to hold the front wheels steady on a straight row when planting or cultivating etc. power steering does a lot of this now. They gave very little trouble as long as they were greased as required. Was a dependable unit.
