You can get an after-market 3- point hitch for your JD "B"--providing you have hydrolics...

I would get that and use it....You will be much better off with the 3- point mounted mower, you can vary the height of cut from the seat, and it makes turning and backing a breeze....
The "B" is not too heavy in the front......you may want to use a mower that is not extremely heavy, OR hitch it so the 3- point only raises the front of the mower, and the rear stays down on ( a) rear wheel ( wheels )....
