I know what you mean, but you also have to consider the trade off between extra parts cost and travelling an extra 20 or 40 miles (for 3 Dollars?)and the time.
Nearly everyone, when recommending buying a tractor, says to consider the local machinery dealer/repair centre availability as well. They may well not be the cheapest but they are handy.
Anyhow, I would probably travel the extra too, if the overall cost is similar!
