Matt, I hear ya on limited space. Things will be mighty tough to do with out that engine lift. I picked up a cheap one at northern hydraulics for $150. It's well worth it, not only for spliting the tractor, but just for lifting all the heavy pieces. I even used it to help take off the tires, rims and load into my pickup! A hi-lift jack, will work fine, or a hydraulic bottle jack will work well also. You should block up the tractor under the rear axles and under the clutch housing. Jack stands will also hold the weight. Good luck
