I used an electric winch on my 4 wheeler to lift a home made snow plow. It worked but was way to fast to really do just a little lift of the blade. Ended up adding a pully in the system to slow it down. Finally used a 12 volt trailer jack and it worked a whole lot better. Would have loved hydraulics, but 12 volt units wer a litte expensive and hard on the battery.
