As you can see from the posts, there is a big variation from state to state and area to area concerning the qualifications for the ag tax break. Best thing is to go see your local tax assessor and learn from that person what is required in your area. In my area, the county and state have some handouts that are very good in explaining what you must do and how you need to do it. One thing I learned (at least in Texas) unless your living qaurters are under the same roof as your barn, the tax exemption does not apply to your house. May be different in your state, you'll just have to check.
