Kile.......believe your '64 is gravity gas fed and if'n yer carb float/needle don't seal it will actually flow uphill in the intake manifold and down an open intake valves, past the piston rings and fill the crankcase.

I'd be real skepitcal of yer dianogistic mechanic's ability.

BIG CAUTION: you could get "hydraulic lock" when you go to start yer engine with expensive results.

FIX yer carb float. Change yer oil and filter, don't operate with diluted oil.

Bottom line, make it a habbit to manually turn your fuel valve off.........Dell
