If the mag works, then starts missing when hot it is most likely the internal coil breaking down. Possibly the condenser. You can install a distributor and coil if you want (i like the mag). The distributor needs power to run so you need a 12 volt battery. Also need a key or toggle switch to kill the power to the coil when you want to stop. Make sure the coil is made for 12 volts, or has the resistor attached.
