Got a 6.2 in a '83 GMC "heavy half." It is a Detroit Diesel - Allison, not a reworked gas engine. (Those were the 5.7 Oldsmobile - which were great, if you got a good one, and took care of it. Too many wanted to treat it like a gas engine and it failed them.) Anyway, I've had both, and had good luck with both - still got the 6.2 - plowed snow with it again today. Not a powerhouse like the bigger ones, but a good solid engine all the same.
