I was thinking the same thing a couple years ago. I figured I would look into the 2500 - 5000 price range. I found a new dump trailer for 3150. Its 5000 GVW. Same size as the smaller dump trucks I was looking at. Difference? No hassel keeping it running. No CDL, license was cheaper. And no outragous insurance. I use it to maintain 2 miles of gravel road (got my own gravel pit). Hauling feed, hay, firewood, you name it, BUT no maintaince of the older truck.
