Ooh, I see why you won't be driving it. Yeah, they can be beasts with no power steering. I learned to drive in a '48 Ford grain truck, but haven't had much need to double clutch lately, got in my '50 to drive it home and ground the gears a lot. Also it took me several tries to get out of the sellers driveway because of the tight corner and large turning radius. Had some feller in a little red import pretty upset with me, as I blocked the road for a couple minutes. The "98RT" is part of your VIN number, it decodes as model year 1949 OR 1950, 8 cylinder, 239 cu in, one ton chassis. There are a couple other good websites for old Fords. There is a good discussion board at www.ford-trucks.com and there is some good reference info at www.bonusbuilt.com .
