Adding to Verns post if I may. The original seals slowly deteriorate when exposed to the additives in detergent oil. New gaskets are made of better material and are impervious to the additives. I use non-det oil in my TO30 Ferguson, have since 1953 per the owners manual. If it becomes necessary to rebuild the engine, then I'll start using det oil.
