I have a very old table saw that was set up to run off a belt (line shaft most likely). My Grandfather ran it with his H years ago and about 15 years before he died he hooked a pto shaft 540 since he no longer had a machine with a belt pto and only used it once since the speed was too slow. I have draged home a machine with a belt pto and have no idea on how to use it. Are they set to run at a standard feet/min? The I&T says my Avery should turn it at 2140rpm but that the other Avery machines turn around 1225rpm at no load. There must be some standard like the 540/1000 pto right? The pully on the new (old) machine has been replaced with a double V to run a mower. I have a unit that would bolt on the pto of an old ford to give it a belt drive but don't have anything to hook it to. And while I have your ear why did they mount belt Ptos is so many different spots on the tractor? Thanks
