Not quite what you were asking, but....My uncle was often bothered by people wanting to buy his 11HP Case TE (this model later re-rated at 36HP). It was a nice engine, and he really liked that old beastie. But he got tired of people trying to get him to sell it.
So finally, when they'd ask he'd cheerfully say, "sure, it's for sale!. . . for a quarter mil." Pretty soon people stopped asking, and he didn't much mind those people saying he was kook, either.

And yes, it's still owned by his widow, and she'll tell you the same thing.
