Brain My Aunt purchased a J.D. 970 in 1993 for my 1st. cousin to use on their farm , mainly to mow with, he passed away in 1995, and the tractor sat there for 3 years ,and only had 250 hrs. on it, the fuel injector had to be cleaned and it ran like a new one. We called the J.D. dealer and they said the book price on it at that time(1998)was $7,680 , my Aunt had gave $13,800 for it and a flat bottom plow and a new disk harrow(they already had a bush hog mower). It is a pleasure to run, the only problem is that it is light on the front even with the factory weights on it,and will come off the ground if you hang dirt box or plow .It is 33H.P. with 9 forward and 3 reverse.
