Jim- Don't shoot the messenger but I've heard that our very own JD 70's were right up there at the top in gas consumption. (I've got one but can't verify this from personal experience; I don't work it and use it mainly for playing, pulling, parades, shows and snatching golf drunks out of the ditch after they've spent too much time at the 19th hole. They've had all of the JD's since day one and used them on their farms. He said they had a gas 70 once and they didn't keep it long because of the fast 1st gear (he said it was too fast for their chopper) and because it used too much gas. That's what he says and he's a straight shooter. I also read somewhere that 70's were gas hogs. With that said, I guess I'll go play around with my 70 and burn some gas while the weather is still nice! Have a good day.
