Deere learned A LOT about building diesel engines because of the problems They had with the R. Every other diesel engine deere made after the R had the V-4 pony engine and a center main bearing on the crankshaft. The PTO's were real weak in the R's also. I'd look for anything else besides an R. The one You have described here is WAY over-priced with all the problems it has.
