I agree with Les.., get ahold of the attorney general's office and wind their clock. I would guess that the bank is in violation of some laws regarding auction sales, hopefully your state has laws covering auctions. If auctioneers have a license number in your state, then, you should have the laws. That is one problem with rookies like banks trying to run sales. Seems to me that if they opened the bids, the sale was valid. If they had a problem with the item offered, then all bids should have been returned, unopened, with an explaination, and a good one at that. On a deal like you described, a smart and that doesn't appear to be the case here, seller would have dumped that machine on any bid they could get.
As an aside, I have put bids in on equipment at some NY state farms in this area, but never sucessful. Here is what happens, the help sits in the break room, reading the bids as they are opened, then one of them will bid a dollar more for that nice, low hr Allie G or what ever. Not much one can do about that one. Such is life!!
