Boy - reading all the post is confusing the matter. Its simple physics: Power = Torque X RPM. This is in the rotational world of physics. (In the linear world: Power = Work/Time where Work = Force X Distance.) I believe the old Nebraska Tractor HP tests must have used the linear equation in the pull tests. Just keep to the fundamentals and it all makes sense. Engines have a certain Torque versus RPM output curve. At any RPM the Power can be found simply by multiplying the RPM X Torque. Screwing around with gearing and pullies does not increase horse power. It simply trades torque for RPM or RPM for torque.
