I started out on dad's lap at 6 or 7 on a JD H, but I have to agree with te fellow that made the statement not to let them solo unitl they're 11 or 12. Any tractor larger than a lawn tractor make sure you are with them until that age to make sure they don't get into any trouble. It wasn't until then my father would let me on our tractors alone and that was mostly just to bring an extra smaller one back from the field, but by the time I was thirteen I was hauling wagons and spending my summers in all different sizes of beasts, but Dad made sure he still had an eye on me and always talked to me at the end of the day about what I did wrong. I guess what I'm saying is I don't agree with the people that say youngsters shouldn't be allowed near tractors but they must be educated about them and taught safety and common sense when it comes to operating.
