I once spent an entire afternoon repairing mouse/rat damage to electrcal wiring on a Chevrolet Chevette. I fix mouse damage to wiring on lawnmowers pretty often.
The worst animial damage I recall was at my Cousin's house, where more than once, the squirrels gnawed the battery posts off the tractor battery.
Then there was the local sawmill, where the owner said he had to keep his battery covered or the cows would eat the water fill caps off the battery. The sawmill was in the pasture with the cows. And sure enough, right beside the battery hooked to the engine was another battery with no water fill caps on it.
