Some of them had wheel bearings in the rotors and 300 ft. lbs. is the general spec. I am guessing he knows which ones he has.
A 3/4 drive flex bar and a 3-foot pipe on the flex bar would require 100 lbs. turning the bar to put 300 ft. lbs. on the nut. A deep socket may work better than a socket and extension, less twisting due to offset out of line. And extension used to move the flex bar directly out from the end of the spindle does not affect the applied torque other than it can decrease torque to the nut if the extension is soft enough to twist during torquing.
