Landini was established in 1894 as an engineering company in Italy, a tractor was in development when in 1925, their founder and owner died which slowed the prototype being put into production but the sons took up the challenge and produced the first tractor later that year.
In 1975 the company was wholly owned by Massey Ferguson and was building MF vineyard tractors and small crawlers. In 1989 MF sold control of the company to ARGO who, in 2000 acquired the whole company from MF's owner AGCO. Some tractors were still being supplied and sold as AGCO much later.
The original tractors were single cylinder semi diesel two strokes, much like the Lanz Bulldog.
