Trying to stay on topic but this thread reminds me of over 50 years ago when I was helping out a neighbour with some fencing. I was the kid elected to hold the pto driven auger. No framework or 3 point, just a long telescoping pto shaft connected to the tractor and I held the gearbox with auger attached while the driver controlled the pto lever and throttle. Definitely a two person job. No shield on the pto shaft and be sure to not stand too close to the auger turning. I believe it did have a shear pin. No injuries to me but the gearbox eventually fell victim to shock loading from hitting rocks.
