So the risk of the close tolerance parts in the pump scoring and becoming stuck in their bores is very high. This work around is to tricky for him to recommend this as a trained diesel pump repair technician. If this is done once all the cylinder ports are discharging the lacquer thinner should drained from the pump housing by one of the advance plugs. A tablespoon of ATF should be poured into the housing return fitting port and the pump filled with clean diesel before attempting to rotate it more for restarting. Also a pump that has seen water pass through it may not respond to this treatment.
