A coolant heater will help a lot more than a little bit. They are the best way, bar none to INSURE cold weather starting of just about any direct-injection water-cooled diesel. 750watts minimum, not amps. Frost plug types are my preference, but the tank-types and lower hose mounted heaters are as good, just not as pretty to look at. All assuming that you have 110V nearby. The 3cyl Ford engine probably has a manifold heater in the intake. Are you using it?
