I was looking at a counterweight thread https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1646631 and must have bumped the link to this one when I went to post an answer.
There is a big difference in buckling and bending between 3/16 and 1/4 inch angle. There is a much bigger difference between 1/4 and 1/2. I found 3/16 to be barely adequate and too easy to bend. Granted, I bent it by pulling a chain when I should have been using the drawbar, but it was too easy to bend and straighten.
This thread was not playing well with my computer. While trying to figure out how I got here, I am finding different numbers of responses not only when switching between modern and classic, but logged in and not logged in and reopening the posts.
