I originally bought the pull type conventional to do flax as the IH rotary was giving me nothing but grief. Worked for a few years but eventually I had to quit growing flax as even the JD conventional was wrapping and winding flax straw.
The IH is still somewhat useable but has a bad oil leak from the pto shaft seal that we can't seem to fix.
I've just spent a few hours of torture laying on the straw walkers of the JD unplugging the rear beater. Canola straw is very wiry and tough this year added to the poor job my swather did. Hoping the beater drive belt is still ok but it released a bit of smoke before I got it shut down.
