Self driving tractors should work for tillage and for road transport also. One driver operating two tractors, maybe a third moving from field to field or from farm to farm.
Agriculture has always thrived on technology and automation (like tractors), I don't see that changing anytime soon. The current generation of farmers is about sixty years old, a lot will likely change as those farms change hands in the near future.
