My advice would be, it you're taking the head to a reputable machine shop, ask them to do it. Had a laugh the other day. We have a mechanic who not only knows it all, he's extremely cheap when working on his own stuff. Sent his Duramax heads to the machine shop but didn't want them to remove the broken glow plugs. Drilled them out himself after the heads came back and ruined the heads. Had to buy replacements and have them machined again.
