Hello jekeys welcome to YT! I was kidding about the Cummins rods and welding or at least partly. In the attached post from the YT tractor pulling forum the last reply by VicS talks about welding two different rods together to make what he needed. I am going to say that NOT ALL, but the majority of automotive and actually probably all connecting rods built since the 1960s are forged steel. Forged steel is very weldable.
