I have a Durant 4, built in the Elizabeth, NJ factory. It looks much like the Star in the picture.
Most people don't know the story of how Durant started out as a buggy maker, and founded General Motors. He was a big investor, but ended up broke, basically. The first car that became the basis for GM was the Buick.
He hired Walter Chrysler, Charles Nash, and other pioneer car builders. He once tried to buy out Ford, but Henry wouldn't take stock, only cash.
Durant also merged Samson tractor company into GM.
